torrent vs. ed2k

Wednesday, May 31st, 2006

Finally my patience reached the end.

After the death of my computer on the first floor, which was handling all the downloads for the network: ed2k, and torrent clients, I was too lazy to install and configure the ed2k upstairs.

Decided to use torrent client BitComet as the main downloaded for p2p network; quiet nice client, easy-to-use, and very easy-to-leech and share, but unfortunately, the downloading speed, even though higher then in eMule, is unstable: or downloading or uploading with a small download speed.

After few weeks, I’ve got tired of it: and honestly wanted to watch some movies!

Installed eMule 0.47 SivkaMod, reconfigured the ports, because on the default 4662/4672 downloading anything will take weeks. (Ages?!)

At last, I can relax in front of the monitor, or TV (after ripping the movie) and enjoy watching something, instead of News, Sports etc!

Glut and OpenGL

Tuesday, May 30th, 2006

At the beginning of the semester I’ve been witnessed a rum problem taking Computer Graphics cource in FIT.

Although the theoretical part of the subject was covering the basics of computer graphics, and the main algorithms how to create simple geometrical shapes, the worst part was the implementation: in Pascal. It was quiet hard, especially when we’ve passed it at the first course, and used this language like “pseudocode”, or solving some simple routine examples.

At the very beginning the teacher was insisting on using only Pascal. But after few weeks, she finally gave up with this idea. This was a small victory for the group, but we didn’t realize what problems we’ll have later on…

Since the lab environment had (and i think still has) some kind of problems with IDE upgrades, we couldn’t do any practical lessons. The main problem was with the suitable language, because half of the group was using Java for simple 2D/3D graphics, and the other part - C with OpenGL and Glut libraries.

Only the time of assignment submittion had shown the results of these arguments and spent time for concretizing the working environment; only two persons have submitted the assignments (even though it was as simple as it can possibly be!): one wrote everything in Java, another one (me) - in C.

What’s the reason of writting this? Tomorrow we are going to have Computer Graphics exam, and I honestly don’t know how many of the guys will pass…

Well, good luck BCs 2! ;)

Absence reasons

Unfortunately, i haven’t written anything here fow quiet some time. The examination period is still in progress, and i can’t think about anything else; most of the time is taken by the preparations for the mentioned exams, and the rest of free time: for catching up the XML and DHTML documentations in what i was interested in few months ago.

A small conflict with my project(diploma) supervisor was obviated, so hopefully the dimploma project will be passed: the time will tell.

2nd year

It is said: “If you want to start hating the things you like to do, choose it as your diploma topic”.

I’ve choosen to write one program which will handle main statistic formulae which have been tought to us at the first year in FIT. Using .Net.

Now i hate .Net! ;-)

CSS ft. Blog Design

Saturday, May 13th, 2006

I’ve made few changes in the design of the theme, cuz the basic settings offered in the stylesheet about the widths and font-sizes were a little bit uncomfortable.

Now it looks more readable and useable.

Further changes are coming soon
