What if in heaven, they’ve got the company which is in charge of everything: disasters, customer relations, product development. And all of that is based on paperwork routines: an old idea from a different point of view: sitcom God Inc.

Cyprus Blog Network gathers Cyprus Bloggers
It looks like, Cyprus Blog Network (CBN) started link-gathering process. As it appeared, there are a lot of bloggers in Cyprus who regularly participate in CBN development.
For those who think that Cyprus Blogging Network accepts only Cypriots or Residents of Cyprus, you’d better read “We will link you!” post, where the administration of the Network clarifies everything concerning the CBN project.
Istanbul or Constantinople?
Bizantium, Constantinopole, Istanbul – different names, but the city remains the same.
The last time I’ve seen people calling this city Constantinople (or Tzar-city, as Russian interpretation of the name) was in the 9th class. In the literature classes. When the poets were using old names of Istanbul just to get a proper rhythm in the poetry.
As it appeared for some of the Cypriots, they’ve got offended when I called the biggest Turkish city by name which is used since 15th century – Istanbul. I was told that in all Greek maps they use Constantinople as the only correct name for Istanbul.
That was a bit shocking for me. In other words, 15th century name stayed unchanged.
I’ve got few questions: is it just another example of anti-Turkish aggression, or they still use 15th century maps in geography classes? And if they use it, do they know that the Earth is not flat?..
Is Wikipedia as valuable as Britannica?
“It may be the case that non-experts are more cynical about information outside of their field and the difference comes from a natural reaction to rate unfamiliar articles as being less credible.”
While Slashdotters are arguing about this slowly bringing the discussion to the point “do you like Wikipedia or not?”, we can see how popular this Wikipedia project has become, the number of languages the articles have been translated to. And it keeps on growing and improving its content and quality.
A bizzare thing is that according to some of the researches, the articles contributed to Wikipedia encyclopaedia by non-experts are more valuable in case of information mentioned in their articles.
Whether this is better or worse than traditional, expert-based encyclopedias depends on who you ask. Nature did a highly-publicized comparative study between Wikipedia and the Encyclopedia Britannica last year in which they found that the two were similar in terms of accuracy.
In my opinion, an intuitive way of filtering the information by the person gives more useful data for an article then expert’s view on it. A user can easier identify what kind of data is needed by other users.
Candy Dulfer as Christmas Gift

I can’t remember how old I was when I heart this tune first time, but surfing Youtube videos, I’ve found this video clip. I’ve decided to make myself a small Xmas present: discography of Candy Dulfer.
Maybe it’ll look madness with, but these songs are better to be kept on the cd shelf with discographies of Genesis, Sting and other singers and bands whose music won’t get old, then to be stored on a hard drive.
Clean up your ads
You can find it very useful if your Adsense generate a low income.
Adsense used to be a very clean way to make money online while doing what you like (managing your blog or website), but then, out of nowhere, Made for Adsense sites started massive advertising campaigns using our adsense accounts. When we say massive, we really mean it because Adsense is kind of turning into Wallstreet’s Stock Market, where it’s all about ROI (Return of Investment).

Don’t race with counters
Due to my absence for 5 days, while I was working on the assignments and labs, the only thing I had time was Google Reader . Keeping myself without any news is equal to death, I mean, everyone of us needs some news.
I was partially updating my news stream , and what I liked the most was news counter of all unread posts – it’s always “100+”. Back in a days of Bloglines usage, every time I was opening its RSS reader, the numbers like “596 updates”, were killing any will of reading this bunch of news – I’d few hours for doing it. So the fact of reading the news used to become the race with the counter, how fast I will reach “0 updates” then carefully read everything had been posted.
While you use Google Reader – you have 100+ news, so you don’t pay attention, how many updates exactly you have, and you concentrate on reading more then on overtaking the plus-sign.
What kind of tiny things implemented in Google Reader do you like the most?
